Stephanie Prewitt's "West Coast Bad Dog Drill Team" gave their first performance in the Spring of 2003 at the Ambleside Doggy Days Event raising funds for the BC SPCA. Since which time they have continued to perform by popular demand at various events throughout the lowermainland including the Vancouver City Dog Pound, Pet Lover's Digest Dog Day in the Park and performed at the main branch of the Vancouver SPCA for the Kid's World event.
Most of the dogs on "The West Coast Bad Dog Drill Team" were given up by their original owners for serious behavioral problems, which is why the team chose their rather unlikely name. Some of these so-called bad dogs were even scheduled for euthanasia before being rescued by their new owners.
With Stephanie's 40 year career in the behavioural sciences, she determined that these so-called "bad dogs" were merely misunderstood and mishandled and so she taught their new owners how to rehabilitate and train their dogs at "Prewitt Canine Training Academy" located on the North Shore Mountains.
As a result of her training methods these dogs are now well behaved and well loved members of their families and community with some of them working regularly as therapy dogs.
Stephanie Prewitt's training system rewards their dogs with verbal praise, play and affection which creates a loving/trusting bond between the handler and their dogs without the use of food treats and without the use of cookies. At "Prewitt Canine Training Academy" you will learn how to utilize your dog's BRAIN rather than his stomach to successfully achieve reliable results.
"The West Coast Bad Dog Drill Team" performs their obedience routine to nouveau flamenco music. Team handlers range from age 8 to 77 and their dogs are a wide variety of ages and breeds.
