TESTIMONIALS

Dear Stephanie,
As you know I have been having some toilet training trouble with my puppy Ruby. I thought she just wasn't getting it. She was using the dog door to go outside and explore and then come back inside to go to the bathroom! So I brought Ruby to you for help. You described to me that puppies have two fear cycles (8-10 weeks and 16-20 weeks, give or take). I recalled this from the last time with our 3-year old puggle Mylo and do believe this is true. Ruby is now 17 weeks. What you told me was that subconsciously a puppy in fear cycle is afraid to leave his/her mark outside where he/she can smell predators (other dogs, or in our case bears and coyotes too). It would be like advertising to them to come and get her. You told me to take Ruby and her big brother Mylo together to the outside toilet area, to get Mylo to pee there, then low and behold Ruby went pee. Now she is using the outside toilet and seems to be getting the correlation that outside is safe for doing her business. That blows me away! Since we didn't have her in the first fear cycle, we couldn't help her overcome this until now.
I have noticed an overall improvement in her with just 3 days of training with you. What a relief, and I look forward to continued education and conditioning for the both of us. Thanks for all your help Stephanie!

Dear Stephanie,
I wanted to write and thank you for teaching us the meaning of patience with our dog Utah. We have been consistently practicing our basic commands and thus far the results have been remarkable. Your system has allowed us to enjoy all the benefits that a dog can bring to family life and has allowed us many happy times with our chocolate lab Utah. As you know we moved to Calgary this past year to start a new job and a new family. Our son Taylor arrived in June and our family now consists of Mom, Dad, Utah and little Taylor. Utah has proved to be amazing around our son and has shared in our great enthusiasm.
Utah by no means is perfect, but she is well on her way to being off leash trained and thanks to Prewitt Canine Training Academy we have provided the structure for her to thrive here in Calgary. Unfortunately, Calgary does not offer a similar training program that Stephanie provides. However, Stephanie has been more than accommodating by helping us solve our problems or questions through phone and email.
We as a family highly recommend Prewitt Canine Training Academy and believe that Stephanie has shared her love and spirit with our dog and for that we are grateful!

“We had the pleasure of presenting & working with Stephanie Prewitt and Prewitt Canine Training Academy, in conjunction with the West Vancouver SPCA in the summer of 2001, with the Vancouver City Pound in 2002 / 2003 and with the main branch of the Vancouver SPCA in 2004.
We tremendously appreciate having had the opportunity to work with Stephanie and look forward to doing so again in the future.”

I adopted a 7 year old Lhasa Apso / Shitzo cross dog one year ago, from a family where the dog was tormented by their small child. The dog suffered, what the vet diagnosed as fear aggression. The result being biting at adults and children, excessive growling, snarling and leaping at dogs. The vet advised me to take the dog to a specialist that deals with this dog behavior. I knew the dog needed help. I chose Prewitt Canine Training Academy & Services. I made an appointment for dog training lessons, and after 3 months of 1 hour weekly training, along with homework, I saw a big difference in my dog's behavior. The biting stopped and my dog is more relaxed. It is one year later and with Stephanie's training expertise and my love and patience, I now have a well behaved and loving dog. "My Buddy Willy."
THANKS STEPHANIE !!!!

Dear Steph:
It has taken me forever to do this letter. I wanted to say thank you so very much for all your hard work training me! I know it was difficult with my very helpful 3 assistant trainers (ages 2, 4, and 6) at the time. I really appreciated your patience with the children and your willingness to include them in the training process. My now 3 year old son Aidan is a pro at ordering Abby around...come, sit, down and he even walks her on a leash. Please keep in mind Abby is a 1 1/2 year old, 65 lb Lab and he is only 30 lbs. The training went so well with Abby and the kids that we are now proud to report a new addition, Lola. She is 3 months old and with your methods I have already taught her to come, sit and lie down WITHOUT TREATS!!!! Had we not had such a positive experience with you and our resulting obedient dog, I would never have entertained the idea of another dog. Norm likes both the dogs which is a feat considering he is a self proclaimed "non-dog person". Mind you, I do catch him lying on the floor cuddling with them quite often.
Thank you so very much for the wonderful gift you have given us, a fabulous canine citizen.

Dear Steph:
“When I was pregnant I became concerned that my dog Whidbey "pulled" when I was walking her. This made it unpleasant to walk her and I was worried that with the new baby it would be impossible. Stephanie Prewitt of Prewitt Canine Training Academy not only fixed the pulling problem but Whidbey now comes, heals, sits, stays and lays down on command. I had so much fun training her with Stephanie that we are back working on our off-leash training. This is a great training system. I would recommended it to anyone.”

“When I first went to Stephanie Prewitt, it was the all too common intelligent dog / ignorant owner scenario. My dog was the boss, and a little out of control.
With the PREWITT PROGRAM we were able to turn that around.
We then progressed to Protection Training. My dog did not seem interested in this at all; however, he must have been taking it all in—just as Stephanie assured me. One day I needed it and he was there in full colours!
Stephanie's knowledge and love of dogs shines through in her work”

“Have you ever tried to train an Airedale? Excellent training for Dexter and ourselves. Fantastic experience. One that will allow us to make the most out of our relationship with our dog.”

Dear Stephanie, This letter is to let you know that "Charna's Kaptain Bartholamew", Usually known as "Bart" has just passed his American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Test! We wanted to let you know that all the thanks goes to you and your wonderful methods for training.
As you know, before we found you, Bart had a difficult time with the "puppy kindergarten" as he's not motivated by food (not when he knows it turns up twice a day anyway) and both he and I had trouble with the "nose harness". At that time I thought I was going to have a really tough time teaching him even the basic skills and a few manners, then as we worked with you, your ability to understand Bart's motivation and suit the Prewitt Program to both his needs and mine turned our whole training experience around. You made it fun for both of us! I feel I have learned as much as Bart, and after we left you in the fall I was able to work with him over the winter, following your program, and have him to the level we have just reached... passing our Good Citizen on the first try!
I thought you might like to know that on the evening of our big test we were both a little nervous but we didn't have to ask for help on any of the required exercises. When we had finished the last item and Bart and I were having a little hug and celebration, one of the examiners came over to us. She commented how nice it was to see a working breed dog enjoy the "work" of training. The examiner wanted to know which training academy in California we had attended and I happily told her about you and your program...she said that she had been doing the A.K.C. testing for Good Citizen for quite a few years and seen all kinds of methods, but "a working breed really enjoying his wok was a real pleasure to watch".
Thanks again Stephanie from both Bart and I.
Kathy & Bart in California
P.S. We're looking forward to trying a little tracking work this summer, we'll be in touch.

Stephanie was born to train dogs as she seems to have a charisma that they instantly respond to without the use of food! We had tried a baiting system, but my dog then seemed to be training me so she could get a cookie.
Thanks goodness we found you, as I now have a dog who is well behaved and happily willing to do what is asked of her. I also appreciate how simple and fun her training routine is, and how effectively it worked for us.
